PUSHING THE BOUNDARIES TO ADVOCATE FOR STUDENTS' CHOICE IN CCA (THROUGH PCPS CCA EXPERIENCE PROGRAMME AND CCA SELECTION EXERCISE)

Synopsis

Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) are important platforms for character development and self-discovery, besides skill acquisition. CCA allocation is the beginning and it could also be the end of CCA experiences that the students could have. The allocation process could be nerve-wrecking with selection trials for students. The exhibition shares Pei Chun’s transformation process by adopting a refreshed approach in CCA allocation based on students’ choice through first-hand experiences of a variety of CCAs. It will detail how Key Personnel, CCA Teachers in-charge and students are involved in the process, challenges, reflections and future plans.

2018 EOY CCA Review

Objectives of Primary 3 CCA Experience Programme

  1. Develop an effective way of allocating CCAs to Primary 3 students;
  2. Drive interest-based CCA allocation among Primary 3 students; and
  3. Provide the platform for Primary 3 students to sample the various types of CCAs (Visual and Performing Arts, Uniformed Groups, Sports & Games, Clubs & Societies), so that they may make informed decisions when selecting their choice of CCA.

Reflections and Future Plans

  1. Provide extra support to the less popular CCA to help them recruit more members;
  2. Look for innovative ways to make the running of the programme less labour intensive; and
  3. Explore new ways to run popular CCA as we continue to work towards the goal of allocating the 1st Choice CCA to all students.
